2010-03-10 - Varsity Boys Sink Sailors
Wednesday, 10 March 2010 - San Clemente, CA
The Tritons' varsity lacrosse team evened out its season record with a decisive 9-3 victory over the Newport Coast Sailors on Wednesday the 10th. Trevor Forsyth, with Kevin Ivie's assist, scored the game's first goal with barely a minute off the clock. The Forsyth/Ivie magic worked twice again before the game was over, including goal #5 with 30 seconds left in the first half.
Triton defense was nearly air-tight all night. What got through was saved 6 times by Triton goalie Thomas Ahola, including two hard shots at close range.
The Tritons' mid-field play has become fast and clean since their first outing against Rancho Bernardo. Max Mirman's third quarter faceoff led straight to Max Satossky's ("Ski") goal #7.
The third quarter also contained some crowd-pleasing excitement as some loose ball syndrome afflicted both teams for a few minutes' mad scramble. A mid-air collision between one Sailor and two Tritons at mid-field - you could hear it on I-5 -- shocked both teams out of it.
Charlie Satossky scored the game-closing goal by lacing his way through three defenders on his way to the goal.
Final Triton Stats: Charie Satosky: 3 shots, 1 goal; Max Satosky: 4 shots, 2 goals; Trevor Forsyth: 3shots, 3 goals; Kevin Ivie: 3 assists; Camen Piho: 9 ground balls; Thomas Ahola: 6 saves.
