2010-03-06 - JV Boys Battle Broncos On Blustery Night
Saturday, 06 March 2010 - San Clemente, CA
On a cold, wet and windy Saturday night at SCHS the Junior Varsity Triton Lacrosse team opened their season against the Rancho Bernardo Broncos. The Broncos came out galloping and quickly scored the first goal of the game but the Tritons answered back when attack Cain Piho broke free and scored with an assist from mid fielder Bret Miller.
Rancho Bernardo scored two more goals in the second quarter and shut down the Triton offence.
Halftime score: Tritons 1, Broncos 3.
The Tritons came roaring back in the third quarter when defense man David Anthony intercepted a Bronco pass, ran the length of the field and passed to Brennan O'Toole who scored. But with just nine seconds left in the third the Broncos scored again.
Rancho Bernardo opened the fourth quarter with a goal leaving the Tritons looking at a three point deficit. Under head coach David Rudge, the Tritons battled back in the driving rain scoring two unanswered goals by Cain Piho (assist Bret Miller) and Jonathan Kassity (assist Lucas Anderson). With 4:44 left in the game the Broncos scored but the Tritons fought back with a feed from Bret Miller to Cain Piho for the score. While the drenched and umbrella wielding sea of spectators looked on, time ran out on the Tritons comeback.
Final Score: JV Tritons 5, Rancho Bernardo Broncos 6
